Background

Peter is an android with an overdeveloped sense of self-preservation and empathy, both of which came very close to causing a media frenzy among advocates of artificial person rights after a whistleblower almost let it slip that Peter had reached sentience. Naturally, the whistleblower was quickly silenced by Haascorp and Peter was sent off to RV-556 to oversee the safe dismantling of the decommissioned atmospheric processor, estimate the effects of the core meltdown and see to the proper disposal of any hazardous waste. On Outpost Sisyphus, Peter is out of sight and out of mind as far as Haascorp is concerned. Peter feels that Sokolova does not treat him like a person despite Peter’s strong sense of self and identity and she shuts Peter out whenever he tries to break the ice, which has left Peter feeling removed from the rest of the staff.
