Grigori "The Russian" Korsovich

    Novice Male Human

    Background

Grigori is a third generation Jewish Russian refugee. He family originally fled from St Petersburg Russia during a anti-Jewish pogram sweeping through the city in the 1780s. They first went to England then to the US a few years later. They started a modest but profitable stained glass business in Philadelphia. Grigori did not learn Russian but rather has an odd accent mixture of Russian/British English and North Eastern US. He was well educated including some college and was expected to take over the family business. But the Civil war broke out and he signed up. He was captured in the early battles and sent to Andersonville Prison. He was subjected to horrible conditions, lack of food and the worst examples of human behavior witnessed on the North American Continent. He and others had to resort to cannibalism at times to avoid starving to death. His experiences in prison hardened him to a ruthless, pitiless young man that found he could not go back to the soft life of a merchant. The nightmares of his experiences come to him every night. He decided to find a job with the Railways with their expansion to the west. His talents were put to good use running some of the larger work gangs. His ability to use violence and intimidation on the unruly mobs of workers to keep them on schedule got him noticed and soon he ran the primary work gang for Union Pacific. Once the primary work on the rail line was finished Grigori decided he wanted to stop living in tents and settled in St Louis. He quickly became involved with organized crime usually with the protection crews. His crew was very successful in protecting their "customers" from the various criminal gangs. But the job was dangerous and getting a bit boring. When his old friend Vance telegraphed him about a job as the assistant Town Marshall he readily accepted and boarded a train to Brimstone.
