John is a solidly built man. An ex-police officer in the Firearms Unit (SC&O 19), he left the force when due to a technically a serial child killer was let free because of him. It hit him hard and he turned to drink.
He is now a private detective of the old and unconventional mould, who likes to get his hands dirty and be in the thick of things (to stop him having time to think about the past). Always the first to respond to a sob story or a damsel in distress.
