If you're not familiar with Savage Worlds, we highly recommend that you purchase the Savage Worlds: Adventure Edition (sometimes referred to as "SWADE") from Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Drive Thru Stuff, or your Friendly, Local Game Store (FLGS).
Although we strive our best to allow for any character to be made as easily and flexibly as possible, there's only so much one can do with software. Computers like rules, and the software behind this character maker is no exception.
It's the intention of this application to "warn, not deny." Which means, it'll let you tag on whatever you want, whenever you want for the most part, go negative funds, have too many edges, too many spent attribute or skill points, etc. It'll let you do it, but it'll tell you when something's wrong, and it'll even try to hint at getting your character "nominal," with edges and hindrances. Just look for the big icon in the bottom-left hand corner (once you've clicked on one of the navigation items above), and click on it to get a summary of what needs to be done.
How are the numbers displayed on the status bar?
All the numbers on the status bar read [# of available points]/[maximum points]. For example if your skill points read:
Skill Points: 3/12
This means that you have 12 total skill points to spend, but only have 3 skill points left to spend (i.e. you've spent 9). This goes for Skill Points, Attribute Points, Power Points, Strain, etc.
Great! I've made our character, now what?
Excellent Question! If you click on the Exports Tab, you'll see your character in a copy and pastable format. Also, you'll be able to view/download various styles of PDFs.
How do we start over?
Easy, just click on the little document icon in the bottom right.
How do we save and load?
Well, first you'll have to be registered and logged in. Once you're there the little icon on the bottom-right will change into a mini-popup menu with New, Load, Save, and Share functions. Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy.
Just be careful of what you're loading and saving. The Campaign Settings tab is a whole different set of loading and saving than your character.
